New Leadership at AMI
AMI celebrated the accomplishments of out-going president, André Roberfroid and welcomed new president, Philip O’Brien at the Annual General Meeting in April.
Close to two hundred AMI members enjoyed a wonderful AGM/Montessori Weekend in Amsterdam. Many people enjoyed getting to know colleagues from over 30 different countries and learning about the innovative Montessori work that is done across the world by many fellow Montessorians.
The 10 years of André’s presidency have been significant for the organization, and gratitude was expressed for his groundbreaking work. In recognition he was awarded honorary membership in AMI.
Members were then introduced to Philip O’Brien who assumed the presidency on May 1, 2014. O’Brien is currently the Senior Adviser at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatrics Aids Foundation. He was previously Executive Vice President for Communications Advocacy and Development at the Foundation. Prior to joining Elizabeth Glaser, Philip worked for UNICEF in a number of positions and roles, including as Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe, and Director of Private Partnerships and Fundraising. He has lived and worked in Asia, Africa, US, and Europe. He holds a Master of Science in Economics from the University of Wales, Swansea UK.
