Toddler Spanish Specialist and Support Assistant

Hours: M-F 7:30-3:30
Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Scale: $24-$26 per hour with a $500 hiring bonus payable in two installments ($250 to be paid on your first payroll and $250 to be paid after three successful months on the job)
Our Toddler Spanish Specialist and Support Assistant works closely with both Lead Guides (Teachers) to support the needs of children; 10-12 children (ages 18 months to 36 months) in our Toddler communities. As a result, children experience a nurturing, safe, calm, and stimulating authentic Montessori learning environment Monday through Thursday. The Assistant’s role is to provide Spanish language and support as needed first in our Toddler Half-day community and then in our Toddler Full-day community.
Key Responsibilities and tasks Include the following:
Observation, supervision, and support of children indoors and outdoors.
Preparing and maintaining classroom environments (replenishing supplies)
Material making (printing, cutting, and laminating)
Prioritizing diverse needs during classroom time
Supporting toilet learning
Cleaning
Gardening
Initiating small group activities, including reading a book, singing, and movement games in Spanish
Supporting supervision, safe arrival to school, playtime, walks, afternoon napping, and dismissal.
Required Experience, Qualifications, and Attributes:
A minimum of six Early Childhood Education (ECE) units and the ability to enroll in and take classes to complete 12 ECE units as soon as possible.

Fluently bilingual (English and Spanish)
Preferred Experience, Qualifications, and Attributes:
Twelve ECE credits or more
Bachelor’s Degree or more
Experience working with young children
Knowledge of Montessori education experience in Montessori schools
Physical requirements for the position:
The ability to lift to 40 pounds
Ability to sit on the floor
Ability to get up and down from the floor with ease
