Briar Vista Elementary School is seeking a Montessori Teacher (1-3), who utilizes best practices to increase student achievement. The primary responsibility is to implement, deliver, and promote high academic expectations to all students. The ideal candidate must work collaboratively with team members and must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The following duties are representative for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Teaches grade relevant, subject matter specific and mandated curriculum.
• Prepares lesson plans, instructional aids, and supplemental teaching materials.
• Assesses, documents and prepares reports such as achievement progress, grade and classroom performance, and attendance.
• Participates in student development and achievement related conferences with parents, students, counselors, teachers, principal, and/or administrators.
• Performs general instruction coordination duties such as ordering materials, attending meetings, and engaging in various forms or correspondence.
• Attends professional learning sessions and/or required conferences.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree from a Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university in the relevant educational field required.
• Hold an undergraduate degree from an approved college/university with a 2.5 minimum GPA.
• GACE Program Admissions.
• GACE Content Area Assessment.
• GACE Educator Ethics Entry.
• Be enrolled in a Montessori teacher education program.
Or
• Hold an undergraduate degree from an approved college/university with a 2.5 minimum GPA.
• GACE Content Area Assessment.
• GACE Educator Ethics Exit.
• Completed HB671.
• Complete a MACTE-accredited program and submit verification of the credential or letter of equivalency from the preparation program.

• Montessori PK2-K (Ages 2 ½ – 6) – FLD 420
• Montessori Elementary I Grades 1st – 3rd (Ages 6-9) – FLD 430
• Montessori Elementary I – II Grades 1st – 6th (Ages 6-12) – FLD 440
• Montessori Secondary I Grades 7th – 9th (Ages 12-15) – FLD 450
• Montessori Secondary I- II Grades 7th – 12th (Ages 12-18) – FLD460
