Calling for AMI/USA Human Rights and Social Justice (HRSJ) Advisory Council Members for the 2025-2027 Term.
AMI/USA is seeking 10-12 members to serve on the HRSJ Advisory Council beginning April 2025.
The HRSJ Advisory Council advises the AMI/USA HRSJ Advisor and the AMI/USA Board of Directors as they strive to advance social justice, human rights, and related public policy matters that are relevant to the AMI/USA mission.
The HRSJ Advisory Council is a group of highly motivated volunteers that work to support the AMI/USA Board of Directors and the Operational Staff to initiate advancement of feedback and recommendations that guide leadership and help ensure that organizational activities are in alignment with the AMI/USA Racial Equity Statement and future AMI/USA HRSJ position statements, policies, and practices.
HRSJ Advisory Council members offer guidance and support to relevant projects such as:
- Championing the needs of members to foster inclusive Montessori learning environments.
- Revising and articulating new position statements that address current and relevant HRSJ challenges and opportunities.
- Supporting the AMI/USA operational staff to achieve HRSJ related goals as outlined in the current AMI/USA Strategic Plan.
- Serving as content experts and editorial reviewers for the semi-annual AMI/USA e-journal.
- Assisting the work of AMI/USA’s Human Rights and Social Justice (HRSJ) Advisor in addressing the expressed needs of the membership, with work varying based on emerging priorities and areas of focus.
Members of the HRSJ Advisory Council participate in online, quarterly HRSJ Advisory Council meetings and commit to two years of service. We are seeking advisors across all racial, cultural and social backgrounds and will consider this in our appointments to the committee.
