Mountain Shadows Montessori School

Mountain Shadows Montessori School is seeking full-time AMI Montessori-trained lead teacher for our Upper Elementary Classrooms (grades 4-6))

Duties include teaching Montessori to a classroom of students ages 9-12 years through in-person learning starting in this upcoming 2021/22 school year. We are a non-profit school serving children ages 1-12 in Boulder, Colorado. The school sits on 7.5 acres of land with breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains and surrounding farm land.

The Upper Elementary teacher will be responsible for preparing the elementary environment, facilitating parent engagement/education and conferences, record and data management, and student assessment. A successful candidate will bring dependability, creativity, joy, positive enthusiasm, professionalism, and a dedication to equity to contribute to high-quality Montessori education.

Salary and compensation will be commensurate with experience and education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A Montessori Credential as an AMI Elementary Teacher required.

Willingness to complete state requirements: First Aid & CPR Training, Background Check & Fingerprinting

Commitment to respectful practices

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Experience leading an Upper Elementary classroom strongly preferred and establishing a mindful environment based on respect.

First year teachers will be considered.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and/or ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Classroom management skills, including providing support to children, overview and redirection as needed to children in class, working individually with children and in small group follow-up work, using positive discipline techniques with children (non-shaming and non-punitive)

Creating academic extension lessons and teaching these lessons in a Montessori-formatted structure to ensure that students will leave your classroom having learned the academic base of the common core standards and/or standards from the local Boulder County School District.

Establish a Montessori prepared environment that meets the unique needs of the Upper Elementary students at the second plane of development and moving into adolescence.

Dynamic and mindful approach to problem-solving, demonstrate a growth mindset for professional and personal growth

Maintain a calm demeanor in a busy, highly flexible environment

Be organized, attentive to details, and a careful observer

Understand and execute verbal and written instructions, policies and procedures and implement them with a degree of independence

Technical skills that support record keeping and parent communication.

Attend all school meetings and school related functions

Establish and maintain good communications with parents through parent conferences, meetings, informal communication, emails, progress reports, and classroom newsletters.

Collaborate effectively with other staff members including Guides, our Learning Specialists and our Curriculum Director for curriculum planning, parent education events, student support, and for continued professional growth.
