Salary:
35 days x $40/hr x 4 hrs/day =$5,600
[Training in research-based math and reading interventions will be provided to all summer STARS staff prior to program launch. There will be a paid half-day on-site collaboration, planning sessions prior to the program start (TBD in June).
Program:Description: SSMA Summer STARS Program is intended to provide an opportunity for students to make up lost ground in reading , mathematics, and/or social emotional development. Teachers will plan project based or service learning activities using the SSMA math and science curricula. The curriculum is designed and to be presented in a manner that will be engaging for students and skillfully address students’ individual learning needs. Students will be placed in grade level groups and have similar skill development needs. This 5- week program is in-person and will focus on reading and mathematics with each child receiving an individualized learning plan based on their current academic needs with the goal of academic growth through daily intensive learning sessions.
This program will take place from 9:00am – 1:00 pm Monday through Thursday from June 24th to July 29, 2021. The SSMA Summer STARS Program will be located at Shining Stars Montessori Academy Public Charter School.
Duties / Responsibilities:
The teaching and support staff report to the Summer STARS Program Administrator and
Offer daily instruction for students, and provide daily assignments and supports as needed.
Plan lessons to meet the individual learning needs of each child.
Support direct instruction to students individually, in small groups.
Independently plan lessons to prepare for rigorous instruction.
Support the development of Literacy and learning and supports through high-quality, high dosage academic support.
Provide daily classroom attendance and other relevant record keeping.
Assist with classroom management; enforce discipline code.
Care for program materials and resources.
Perform other related duties as requested.
complete Progress Reports at the end of the program on student progress to Program Administrator and Principal.
Qualifications:
Teacher certification or Elementary License in appropriate grade level or as a reading or math specialist)
Experience working in an extended learning summer program or after school program providing high dosage academic support for students in grades 1-6.
Facility with planning and implementing lessons while at the same time weaving in opportunities for targeted skill development based on students’ specific learning support needs
Provide reading and/or math intervention(s) to individual small groups of students using the SSMA Summer STARS curriculum provided
Experience working with a diverse population of students, especially historically marginalized student groups, such as Black and brown students, students with disabilities, and English Language Learners.

Passion for engaging with students.
Teachers with diverse expertise and certification are encouraged to apply, including educators with certification in the arts, physical education, special education and ESL.
