Join our vibrant community at Bergen-Lafayette Montessori School (BLMS)! We’re seeking dedicated Head Teachers for our Infant classroom (3-17 months) and Toddler classroom (18-35 months).

Roles:

Infant Head Teacher: Create a warm, engaging environment for infants (3-17 months) with a focus on developmental milestones and early social skills. Collaborate with experienced Teaching Assistants to support each infant’s growth through individualized Montessori methods in a bilingual learning environment.

Toddler Head Teacher: Lead a dynamic classroom for toddlers (18-35 months), implementing a Montessori curriculum that promotes independence and social interaction. Work closely with Spanish Language Teachers and Teaching Assistants to enhance bilingual learning and support each child’s developmental needs.

Responsibilities:

Curriculum Implementation: Develop and deliver a Montessori-based curriculum tailored to the specific age group, incorporating both educational activities and developmental support.

Classroom Management: Maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating environment that is safe and conducive to learning.

Assessment and Documentation: Observe, document, and assess each child’s progress, making necessary adjustments to support their individual needs and developmental milestones.

Parent Engagement: Regularly communicate with parents about their child’s development, providing feedback and involving them in their child’s educational journey.

Team Collaboration: Work effectively with Teaching Assistants, Spanish Language Teachers, and other staff members to create a cohesive educational experience.

Bilingual Education: Integrate bilingual teaching methods into daily activities to support language development in both English and Spanish.

Qualifications:

Montessori Credentials: Montessori Infant/Toddler credential preferred (Early Childhood Certification acceptable) with at least 3 years of experience in a Montessori classroom.

Bilingual Skills: Proficiency in English required; additional bilingual abilities (Spanish) considered a plus.

Child Development Expertise: Strong understanding of early childhood development and Montessori methods to create a supportive and effective learning environment.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with parents, colleagues, and children.

Organizational and Safety Skills: Ability to maintain an organized, clean classroom environment and adhere to health and safety guidelines.
