Primary Before & Aftercare Lead
Do you have Montessori experience working with children ages 2 ½ – 6 years old? Pacific Crest School seeks a Primary Aftercare Lead to join our team of dedicated staff in creating a peaceful, engaging Montessori environment that nurtures the child’s natural love of work, life, discovery, and independence.
Position Details:
This is a full-time, year-round, salaried, exempt position, 9:30 am – 5:30 pm Monday through Friday. We are looking to fill this position for the 2021-2022 school year.The Before & Aftercare Lead’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
Leading a group of up to 25 children ages 2 ½ – 6 years old in aftercare
Coordinating all before and aftercare program needs, including napping children and care during the school day
Preparing and maintaining the indoor and outdoor environments
Training, mentorship, and supervision of the Aftercare Assistant staff team
Collaborating with Primary teaching staff and administration
Supporting children’s independent activity through preparing developmentally appropriate and engaging activities and by observing the children: individual and group activities; music; cooking/food prep; arts and crafts; outdoor games; gardening; etc.
Scheduling and leading outings to local libraries and parks
Planning and oversight of breakfast and afternoon snack
Ensuring the physical and emotional safety and well-being of the children
Modeling integrity, curiosity, and respect
Attendance at staff meetings and trainings, as required
The ideal candidate:
Has AMI Primary Montessori training and experience with children ages 2 ½ – 6
Is an excellent communicator, interacting with children, families, and co-workers in a warm, compassionate, empathetic, and confident manner
Has gentle but firm classroom management skills, exhibiting patience, kindness, calmness, and positive behavior guidance
Has a joyful, creative disposition and a desire to work collaboratively as part of a cohesive team
Requirements:
Montessori training and experience (AMI Montessori training preferred)
Enrollment inWashington State’s MERIT online professional registry
Current CPR & First Aid certification, Food Handler permit, Blood Borne Pathogens training, proof of negative tuberculosis test, proof of MMR vaccine or measles immunity, driver’s license, and 30-hour Child Care Basics training or exemption
Washington state Background check clearance
Ability to lift 50 pounds
