Wildflower Teacher Leader is Looking for Partner in Northern, New Jersey
Wildflower Montessori of New Jersey is seeking an entrepreneurial, preschool teacher to help start and co-lead a small-scale Bilingual Montessori Primary School (Spanish & English) in or around Essex/Bergen/Hudson County. Our focus is to help underserved communities by providing quality Montessori education to all children. A Spanish speaker is a plus but not a requirement.
You will be working with an AMI-trained Montessori primary guide with many years of experience working in bilingual, non-profit environments. The two co-lead teachers will work together in preparing and maintaining a culturally sensitive, bilingual Montessori learning environment. In addition, the two co-lead teachers will work together and run the school as partners, in a non- hierarchical setting. The NJ Wildflower Foundation is committed to support the development of a beautiful, diverse, authentic, Montessori primary school.
Each Wildflower school is unique: led by the teachers who bring their training and life experience, along with a deep commitment to meeting the specific needs of their children and families. Embedded within this beautiful diversity of experiences and perspectives, there are nine principles that unite our schools.
What You Bring
•A deep commitment to authentic Montessori – Your expertise will position you to be a highly effective facilitator of children’s learning and to extend the values of Montessori to include the adults within your school community.
•Commitment to serving diverse communities – You are eager to increase access to Montessori to racially and socioeconomically diverse communities.
•A background or interest in working in Montessori communities – You have been through a full accredited Montessori training and have an interest in working with children ages 3-6. Or, you are willing to start your Montessori training in the summer/fall 2020.
•Entrepreneurial leadership – Your default mode is “yes.” You are flexible, open-minded, see opportunity in obstacles, and are energized by creating solutions to problems.
•Generosity of spirit – You live with kindness, work gently with others, practice gratitude, and lead with love. You seek advice openly and are comfortable working in a non-hierarchical setting.
•Partnership: you enjoy working with others – you are excited about collaborating with a partner who will co-lead and co-teach with you.
•Willingness to work hard – You have the stamina, time, and appetite to raise yourself to the challenge of starting and leading your own school. You will not be alone, but you will be busy.
Salary and benefits very competitive. Wildflower is open to supporting the Montessori teacher training of a partner with a background in teaching or nonprofit administration.
