Elementary Lead Teacher
Hill Country Montessori School is the only Montessori school in the Greater San Antonio area that is nationally accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS) and AdvancED. Since 1981, our school has forged a path of excellence in Montessori programs and has been the leading choice for Montessori, advanced preschool, elementary, and middle school education.
HCMS provides a customized education based on a child’s needs and development, as well as promoting joy-filled learning, character expansion, exploration, independence, and integrated development. Our community brings together teachers who are Montessori-certified and professionals of the highest academic and personal caliber to ensure each child is nurtured to their full potential.
We are looking for a dynamic, experienced and certified Montessori teacher to lead our Elementary classroom for the 2025-2026 School Year.
We do not have the capacity to sponsor work visas. We encourage applications from candidates who already have the legal right to work in the U.S. and do not require sponsorship.
Schedule:
Typical school hours are 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. Teachers are expected to attend all school functions, faculty meetings, staff retreats, and professional meetings. Additional time required for lesson planning, keeping records, meeting with parents, mentoring, and planning events.
Position Statement: The Montessori Teacher is a guide who helps direct his/her students’ activities socially, academically, emotionally, and physically, in a prepared Montessori environment that encourages each child to reach his/her fullest potential in these developmental areas. The mission of all Staff at HCMS is to work in cooperation with other Staff, Parents, and Board members to create and sustain a positive school environment. The teacher must act in accordance with the Montessori philosophy, Hill Country Montessori School’s Mission Statement, the Employee Policy Handbook, the Parent Policy Handbook, and written policies/procedures.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree
Montessori Certification through an AMS, AMI or MCTE Montessori Training Program,
At least two years’ teaching experience, preferably in a Montessori environment,
Current CPR and First Aid certifications, and
Willingness to complete professional development requirements.

Ability to demonstrate a broad repertoire of teaching strategies that honor varied learning styles and effectively meet the developmental, cognitive and social needs of students
Strong record keeping skills
