Middle School Classroom Guide

Guide/Teacher,

Childpeace Montessori School

Childpeace Montessori seeks a Classroom Guide to join our Metro Middle School Program beginning August 2025. This salaried, exempt, benefit-eligible position (medical, dental, vision, and more) follows a Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. during the school year, with occasional evening and weekend commitments.

The Middle School Guide helps establish and maintain the Montessori classroom with fellow guides, supports adolescent well-being, and builds strong relationships with parents and colleagues.

Responsibilities

The Guide prepares the environment, lesson plans, and records; models curiosity; collaborates with peers; and supports students’ growth. They observe and assess academic progress, promote self-management, ensure equity, and address learning challenges. They plan field trips, student-led outings, and excursions, and co-lead a 7–10 day Odyssey trip and 5-day Spring Trip annually.

They maintain classroom and shared space order, encourage student responsibility for the environment, and model professional organization. Management includes delivering clear lessons, setting behavioral expectations, supporting peer collaboration and conflict resolution, and upholding boundaries.

The Guide communicates clearly with parents, advocates for students, upholds professionalism, and maintains confidentiality. They organize parent education, hold two annual conferences (plus optional pre-conference), offer meetings as needed, write four progress reports yearly, and document significant communications.

They arrive and depart 30 minutes before/after school, represent the school professionally, communicate with leadership, raise concerns, attend meetings (including 2.5 hours weekly), support student transitions, contribute to fundraising, maintain alumni connections, and follow professional standards. Other duties may be assigned.

Professional development includes 24 hours of annual training, AMI membership (paid by Childpeace), ongoing learning, participating in peer observations, sharing feedback, and following all school policies. Maintaining a teaching credential is encouraged.
