The McMinnville Montessori School (MMS) is seeking a dynamic, creative, and experienced Montessori-trained educator to serve as its head of school. With a rich tradition of excellence, MMS has served the community for over 30 years, advancing its mission to cultivate curiosity, independence, social responsibility, and a lifelong love of learning. MMS provides an authentic Montessori educational experience for primary and elementary-aged children within a warm, caring community of children, staff, and parents. The ideal candidate should possess and demonstrate a strong commitment to Montessori principles, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, effective management and organizational skills, strong leadership ability, familiarity with non-profit organizations and management, understanding of budgeting, bookkeeping, financial reporting, and fiscal management. MMS is fortunate to have a passionately dedicated teaching staff and an enthusiastic and supportive community of parents and Board of Directors.

Preferred start date: August 1, 2021
Required:
-Completion of an AMI/AMS training program (Credential Certificate which includes Bachelors degree in appropriate area of study).
-Minimum three years of successful teaching experience as a guide in a Montessori classroom (primary or elementary).
-Meet Director Qualification Requirements per Oregon ELD
Preferred:
-Five or more years of successful classroom guide experience (primary or elementary)
-Solid grasp of primary and elementary programs
-Montessori Administrator and/or Montessori Inclusion Endorsements
-Prior supervisory or administrative experience
Responsibilities/Requirements Include:
-Attend board meetings and communicate with the board on all matters relating to the school
-Build and maintains a healthy, positive working and educational environment
-Participate in the development and implementation of the schools strategic plan
-Oversee financial and physical operations
-Oversee the curriculum, educational program, and school activities
-Hire, supervise, and evaluate staff
-Provide professional development for staff
-Maintain student records
-Oversee safety programs, building security, emergency procedures, and state licensing reporting protocols
-Manage recruiting initiatives, enrollment management, marketing, outreach, and external communications
-Build and maintain relationships within the Montessori, local, and regional education communities
-With the board of directors, assist with fundraising, capital campaigns, and community relations
-Coordinate volunteer hours and projects
-Must be able to operate and use office equipment, classroom equipment, or other materials.
Effectively communicate verbally and in written form with staff, students, parents, donors, and community members
-Observe and interact with children
-Be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments
-Be able to lift and move at least 50 pounds
