Growing School – Multiple Positions Open

Guide/Teacher,

Catskill Montessori School

2023-2024 Employment Opportunities

Now in its third year, Catskill Montessori School (CMS) is seeking educators to join us as we embark on the next phase of our growth, including the launch of our Secondary program and expansion of our facilities. We seek educators eager to join a school that blends authentic Montessori instruction with a permaculture-based outdoor education program. At CMS, hands-on student learning extends beyond the classroom to our permaculture farm: working greenhouse, Three Sisters Garden, Food Forest, outdoor/forest classroom, farm animals and surrounding forests, creeks, and rivers.

Who we are: CMS is a private, non-profit school inspired by the permaculture ethics of people care, earth care, and fair share, on 63 acres nestled between the Mahicannituck and Catskill Mountains. Our Inclusivity statement (which can be found on our website) serves as a guidepost for how we define ‘being in community’ and what learning looks like here including developing an appreciation for and building a community with those of different spiritual beliefs, cultural heritages, racial and gender identities, economic backgrounds, and other affiliations. The land surrounding the school also inspires and informs our work as we guide the children to become global citizens and stewards of this land. Opening in the Fall of 2020, we currently serve toddlers – 5th grade in five authentic Montessori classrooms across two restored barns and a farmhouse, and will next launch our Secondary program.

Location: The town of Catskill is equidistant from Boston and NYC (about two hours), wth many quaint towns nearby, including Hudson with Amtrak service to NYC. Catskill offers the charm and culture of small-town living in the Hudson Valley while still providing access to big-city getaways.
