AMI Trained Elementary Guide

Administrator/Head of School, Guide/Teacher,

Allium Montessori School

Allium Montessori School is a teacher-led elementary micro-school serving students ages 6-12 that endeavors to make high-quality Montessori education available to all families. As a Wildflower school, we are part of a larger network of authentic Montessori micro-schools with commitments to equity, community, and connections to nature in our urban environment. We are located in Cambridge, Massachusetts adjacent to the Harvard Law Campus and across the Cambridge Common. This gives us ample space for outdoor investigations as well as access to nearby museums and all that greater Boston has to offer.

Allium is an intentionally small, close-knit community, where teachers develop deep, sustained relationships with students and their families. As administrative and curricular decision-makers, teachers can respond to students’ academic and social-emotional needs promptly and holistically. In addition, empowered teachers model leadership rooted in creativity, humility, and courage.

We are looking for an elementary teacher-leader to join our team starting in August 2021. This position is meant to be an immersive, hands-on experience with a pathway to becoming a co-head of school at Allium. It is a way to take an integrated approach to learn about the Wildflower practices as well as learn about the roles and responsibilities of being a teacher in the classroom, an administrator, a community leader, and an entrepreneur.

An Ideal Candidate is

  • a talented elementary teacher with an AMI Montessori diploma.
  • consistently upholding anti-bias and anti-racist teaching practices.
  • skilled at supporting emergent readers with their early literacy goals.
  • an effective communicator who is committed to collaborating with families and colleagues
  • a self-starter willing to support different aspects of small school operations
