Sundborn Children’s House is seeking a Director to lead our well-established Montessori School. The non-profit Sundborn Children’s House is a 25+ year-old school of 2 primary classrooms with property and a wait list that will support expansion. This is a year-round, salaried, and exempt position working weekdays, generally a 40-hour week with occasional evening and weekend hours. School operates year-round with 3 weeks off both before and after summer sessions in addition to the usual 8 holiday weeks from September through March. Our ideal candidate is an experienced Montessori professional with at least a bachelor’s degree and an AMI Montessori credential. They possess exceptional communication and organizational skills, and preferably AMI Montessori Primary classroom experience as a guide or as a Montessori administrator. This position requires refined skills in a professional setting and can support a team toward program excellence through collaboration.
The Director must demonstrate a positive attitude and a kind spirit for the important work of building relationships with students, families, colleagues and the wider community. This person will work with a passionately dedicated staff within a caring community of students and parents. The right person for this role thrives in communicating Montessori effectively with parents and the business community to help cultivate and sustain strong parent/school/community partnerships. The Director possesses digital competence, works with the bookkeeper to manage the school’s fiscal resources, and reports to the Board.
We are located in the mid-Willamette Valley in Albany, Oregon, 10 miles from Oregon State University in Corvallis, an hour to the wild Pacific Ocean, to the snowy Cascade mountains, and to Portland and Eugene.
