Mountainside Montessori is currently accepting applications for a full-time Adolescent Guide who is eager to grow with our Adolescent program.

The candidate’s specialty should include Math/Science and farm management/project experience. They must be energetic and enthusiastic about the Adolescent stage of life; he/she must listen and relate well to students, enjoy interacting in a variety of environments and responsibilities, and be able to balance student boundaries with student self-discovery. They must have excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and oral/written communication skills and be motivated to create a nurturing Montessori community, acting as an ambassador with both Mountainside’s family community and the community-at-large. The candidate should be a positive team member who contributes to curriculum design and expanding the program, as well as being comfortable with a student-led environment. Candidates who have completed AMI/NAMTA, AMS, or MACTE training are preferred, but we will train the ideal person. We are hiring for the 2024-2025 school year, as our program grows, but would welcome discussion about a midyear 2023-2024 start, as well.

Our campus is located on a 10-acre farm in the historic town of Marshall, VA. Our classrooms are designed to incorporate both indoor and outdoor spaces and reflect our mission of environmental stewardship, sustainable agriculture, and free play in nature. Located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, we are surrounded by some of the most beautiful horse farms in the country, steeped in American history, and just one hour away from our nation’s capital.

Mountainside was established in 2003 and is committed to the principles of the Montessori philosophy. We offer a creative, supportive environment that integrates sustainable agriculture, environmental literacy, and free play in nature with a solid academic program. We currently serve children from 18 months to 15 years.
