Butler Montessori

Butler Montessori seeks an enthusiastic and passionate Adolescent Guide to join our dynamic team for the 2025-26 school year, beginning in June 2025. The ideal candidate will have a background in science or humanities, be interested in teaching adolescent science and/or humanities classes, and support the student-run farm and microeconomy program. Experience with Spanish or Mathematics is a plus.

Our school, located on a beautiful 22-acre campus adjacent to Seneca Creek State Park, offers plenty of indoor and outdoor learning space, and our community has a strong environmental ethos. The serene campus offers a pond, wooded trails, and an equestrian program.

As a community, we proudly carry forward our 50+ year history of Montessori Prepared Environments through High School, providing a full AMI Montessori foundation with strong enrollment and finances.

Applicants should enjoy working with adolescents (aged 12-18) in a Montessori setting and bring creativity, patience, flexibility, collaboration, and a sense of humor to the job. This position is an integral part of the Adolescent Teaching Team and requires daily collaboration with other team members, strong communication skills, and a shared sense of community values.  An ideal candidate will also commit to environmental stewardship, education for peace, and ABAR (anti-bias, anti-racist) principles.

Required Qualifications and Expectations

Undergraduate Degree

AMI certification

Knowledgeable about Montessori philosophy

Facilitate classroom activities

Create engaging, age-appropriate lessons while holding true to the Montessori Model

Establish classroom management utilizing positive coaching

Encourage and assist in positive social interactions

Ensure the safety and well-being of adolescents at all times
