Guide to join our team.
Position Overview:
The Montessori Adolescent Director/Guide will be responsible for designing our middle school program and overseeing the development and implementation of an engaging, age-appropriate curriculum that aligns with Montessori principles. This role requires a creative educator with a strong understanding of adolescent development, a commitment to collaborative learning, and the ability to inspire both students, staff and parents.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Guidance and Instruction:
-Lead middle school classroom activities, fostering a safe and supportive learning environment.
-Develop and implement individualized learning plans that cater to diverse student needs.
-Support interest based “going outs” and field trips
-Utilize Montessori methods to encourage student-led exploration and discovery.
2. Curriculum Development:
-Design and enhance curriculum materials that integrate core subjects with experiential learning opportunities.
-Collaborate with other educators to create interdisciplinary projects that stimulate critical thinking and creativity.
-Ensure curriculum aligns with Montessori standards and educational best practices.
3. Community Building:
-Foster a sense of community among students, staff, and parents, promoting positive relationships and effective communication.
-Organize and participate in school events, workshops, and parent meetings to engage families in the educational process.
4. Professional Development:
-Stay updated on the latest research and trends in Montessori education and adolescent development and education
5. Assessment and Evaluation:
-Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to support their growth and development.
-Utilize assessment data to refine curriculum and instructional practices.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in education, Child Development, or a related field, Master’s preferred.
• Montessori certification for middle school (AMI, AMS, or equivalent).
• Proven experience teaching in a middle school setting, ideally within a Montessori environment.
• Strong knowledge of Montessori philosophy and practices, particularly as they pertain to adolescents.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students and staff.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
