Guides, Assistants & Director
Kinderhouse Montessori School, with two campuses located in beautiful San Diego, California, is growing and further developing our AMI Montessori program. We are seeking A to I, primary, and elementary guides as our school grows and we open new classrooms, Montessori-trained assistants (Spanish-speaking preferred), and a Director.
A candidate for the guide positions will be AMI-trained, professional, and should balance warmth, patience, and firm limits. Guides are responsible for presentations, maintaining student records, communicating with families, and supporting a school environment that is positive and centered on the growth and development of each child.
Candidates for the assistant positions should be professional, have some knowledge or experience with Montessori education, and the flexibility to help where needed.
We are also seeking a director to take over the position from one of our current directors, who will be relocating in the near future. The director works under the Head of School supervising and supporting guides, implementing school policies, and ensuring day-to-day operations that will support the school's mission of providing the best possible Montessori education for each child's intellectual, social, and emotional growth.
Responsibilities include hiring, training, and managing staff members, budgeting, marketing, maintaining close communication with staff and families, and ensuring compliance with AMI and Department of Social Services guidelines.
The candidate should have a background or experience in management, and at least four years of experience in early childhood education, preferably in a Montessori school. If a candidate does not have Montessori training or background, s/he is willing to complete Montessori coursework, if required. The candidate must have a valid CPR/Pediatric first aid card, and 12 early childhood units including Child Development, Child Community and Family, and Curriculum. The candidate must have, or be willing to take, a Preventive Health course and complete a brief online training offered by the Department of Social Services.
