AMI Primary Certified Montessori Instructional Specialist
The District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) in Washington DC is actively seeking a highly qualified, AMI Primary Certified Montessori Instructional Specialist to provide in classroom coaching, professional learning and support for our Montessori programs. The Specialist will have a demonstrated commitment to improving the school readiness and daily classroom experiences of its students. This position is a part of the Division of Early Childhood Education (ECE) within the Office of Specialized Instruction.
The Montessori Specialist is responsible for fostering a culture of collaboration and professional learning at Title I schools related to the implementation of early childhood best practices that are aligned with the DCPS Teaching and Learning Framework, AMI-USA Standards for School Recognition, and Head Start Performance Standards. The Specialist is additionally responsible for ensuring integrity, fidelity and ongoing support for authentic Montessori practice in the early childhood classrooms in those Title I schools, and helping to maintain schools’ AMI recognition status. This individual is skilled at working with teachers and administrators to support AMI standards-based lesson planning, as well as assessment of program quality and child outcomes. The Specialist serves as the DCPS Montessori Program administrator and the primary liaison between the principal at his/her assigned schools, The Association Montessori International-USA (AMI-USA), and the Division of Early Childhood Education.
