Dr. Maria Montessori as Founder
The Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) was founded in 1929 by Dr. Maria Montessori. Today it is a global community whose mission is to protect the integrity of her work.
Worldwide Recognition
The AMI diploma is respected worldwide as a representation of achievement in a teacher training program of quality, integrity, and authenticity. Your AMI diploma, from the most universal Montessori program in the world, qualifies you to teach the Montessori method in a private or public school throughout the United States and in over 110 countries abroad.

Comprehensive Training
Components of AMI training include studying educational theory and psychology, classroom observation, practice teaching, and material preparation. All AMI training courses must meet rigorous standards both in content and teaching staff.
Knowledgeable Trainers
Every AMI course is conducted by an AMI trainer. These dedicated master teachers have participated in a rigorous Training of Trainers Program and possess in-depth knowledge and understanding of Montessori principles and applications. Most are also consultants and lecturers for Montessori events worldwide.
Current Demand
Every year teaching jobs at AMI-recognized schools remain unfilled, as Montessori schools have nearly doubled their student enrollment in the last 10 years.
Future Opportunities
Your AMI diploma can lead to a career as an AMI trained lead teacher at Montessori private and public schools around the world, a Montessori school administrator or owner, an AMI consultant or trainer, or a participant in Educateurs sans Frontieres.

“The trainers are those who took over and undertake to perpetuate the unending legacy of Maria and Mario Montessori in all its dimensions–they are the movers of the movement, and not only as trainers of trainers, trainers of teachers, and trainers of Educateurs sans Frontieres. One of their essential tasks is also to provide knowledge on the nature of the child and “Education as an Aid to Life” to any and all who search for the means to contribute to the wholesome evolution of the human species.”
-Renilde Montessori
