The Board of Trustees of The Montessori School is seeking a Head of School to start July 1, 2012.
This is The Montessori School’s 50th anniversary. Established by the Montessori Society of Central Maryland, Inc., the school was founded in 1962 by a small group of parents dedicated to providing a Montessori education for their children. The Emerson Farm campus, named after the historic farm property that MSCM purchased and began refurbishing in 1977, now serves 250 students.
The beautiful campus is home to three schools: The Montessori School for toddlers through grade 6; Emerson Farm Middle School for grades 7 and 8; and the Maryland Center for Montessori Studies, an early childhood teacher training program.
Nearly 7,000 students have attended Montessori since its inception. Three educational associations including Association of Independent Maryland Schools accredit the school.
A detailed “Profile for Candidates” or opportunity statement, currently being written, describes more fully the school, its opportunities and challenges, as well as the desired characteristics of its next Head of School.
To receive a copy of this “Profile”, please email Dr. Richard K. Jung of Education Access Strategies (EAS) at dick@accesseduc.com or Ginny McDonald of EAS at ginny@accesseduc.com.
Files will be reviewed as received. Preference will be given to candidates who present their application materials by December 30, 2011. The deadline for application materials is mid-January 2012. Semi-finalists’ and finalists’ visits will be scheduled for February, 2012. The School anticipates making an appointment in March, 2012, although position responsibilities need not begin until July 2012.
