Update March 13, 2014

The U. S. Senate today approved S. 1086, a bipartisan bill to reauthorize the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) program, which, since the 1990s, has helped parents pay for the child care setting of their choice, whether public, private, or religious.

The bill includes language proposed by the CAPE community that affirms the use of child care certificates, which are provided directly to parents for use in whatever program meets their child’s needs: faith-based, Montessori, Waldorf, or any other public or private program.
